Bloody Dock plein air field studies in natural ink and gouache capture the vitality and beauty of even the humblest plant. Native, naturalized, and invasive plants are all captured equally as they appear in my yard throughout the seasons.

Our basswood tree provides shade to my studio and this lovely wind-fall leaf cluster was picked up on the way to my studio after a thunderstorm. Created over several morning studio sessions along with the Burr Oak Painting, these leaves are layers of color and line work.

Art Vacancy COVID Edition
Art Vacancy Downtown provided exhibition space, a stipend, and public art viewing in Downtown Ames, Iowa during the 2020 pandemic shutdown and recovery. Funding was provided in part by the Iowa Arts Council grant program.
